Born in 1962, Haluk Dinçer completed a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 and an M.B.A. in 1988, both from the University of Michigan.
Haluk Dinçer began his career in the U.S. as a project engineer at the General Motors Technical Center in 1985. He proceeded to work in various sectors within and outside Turkey over the next ten years.
Dinçer joined Sabanci Group in 1995, serving as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of TemSA for six years. He was appointed Vice President of the Food and Retail Group in 2001, and Food Group President in 2002.
Haluk Dinçer has been serving as the Retail Group President since 2004, as well as the Chairman of the Board of the Group’s retail companies CarrefourSA (Mass Merchant Chain), DiaSA (Discount Market Chain) and TeknoSA (Consumer Electronics Chain).
Dinçer is the Chairman of DEIK/Turkish-American Business Council, and also serves on the board of TÜSIAD – Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association, American Turkish Council in Washington D.C. and American Turkish Society in New York.
Haluk Dinçer is married to Suzan Sabanci Dinçer, and they have two children.
